God's elect are left behind.

After watching the Left Behind series I have always thought that when the elect are gathered at the end of the age those left behind would still have time in the tribulation period to come to the knowledge of God and be saved. But today I understand that those who are left behind are the elect. The ones who are taken are the foolish ones who reject Christ and they will be thrown into the fiery furnace where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. At harvest time I will tell the reapers, “First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned, but then gather the wheat into my barn.” Matthew 13:30 First collect the weeds. The field is the world and the good seed are the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels. As the weeds are collected and burned with fire, so it will be at the end of the age. Matthew 13:38 - 40 It will be this way at the end of the age. Angels will come and separate the evil from the righteous. Matthew 13:49 Jesus doesn't say that the angels will separate the righteous from the evil but the evil from the righteous.
